Maritime Careers: Opportunities at Sea and Ashore

A career in the maritime industry does not always mean working on a ship. Seafarers, engineering professionals, logistics specialists, brokers, port teams and maritime business graduates can all find different routes into the sector.

Jobs at sea: deck, engine and electrical

Merchant shipping brings together deck officers, masters, marine engineers, electro-technical officers, ratings and catering crew. Roles differ by ship type, certificates, rank and operating area. Before responding to a vacancy, check the flag, certificates required, working pattern, travel expectations and whether the salary is quoted per month on board or across a full rotation.

Superyacht and offshore careers

Yachting combines technical, navigation, hotel and guest-service roles. Offshore projects may require specialist safety and competency training, depending on the operation. Job titles alone do not establish eligibility: read the current vacancy and confirm the requested documents with the employer or authorised recruitment company.

Shore-based maritime jobs

Ports, freight forwarding, marine insurance, shipbroking, chartering, vessel management, compliance and maritime finance offer work ashore. Sea experience may help some applicants, but many business, logistics and technology positions have alternative entry pathways. Compare the responsibilities and location of each role rather than assuming a particular degree or sea-going background is mandatory.

How to use the public job board

Use sector, rank, location, vessel and salary filters to narrow the listings. Open the detail panel to understand the vacancy, then follow Apply at original source. Maritime Bridge does not accept CVs or candidate registrations through the public job directory. Employers control their original recruitment processes; verify current availability, contract terms and legitimacy before sharing personal documents.
